Bottari (1990s - ongoing)
Kimsooja's best-known work Bottari series typically consists of traditional Korean cloth bundles used to wrap goods in preparation for transport by hand. Inspired by her childhood experiences of sewing with her mother, the series has been introduced to the international art scene in various forms and encompasses sensitive social, political, and cultural issues such as nomadism, immigration and femininity. Recently, it has evolved into a giant five Korean traditional symbolic colors container work, achromatic bundles in black and white or bundles wrapped in linen.
